Racing Pride is delighted to announce a new and exciting partnership with Diagonal Communications, marking an important next chapter in the organisation’s continued growth and impact across global motorsport.
Since its foundation in 2019 with support from the LGBTQ+ charity Stonewall, Racing Pride has become a leading voice in the championing of LGBTQ+ inclusion within motorsport and its associated industries, working with teams, championships, sponsors, and individuals to create a sport that is welcoming, representative, and respectful of everyone. Through advocacy, education, research, and visible allyship, Racing Pride has helped drive meaningful cultural change to support and celebrate the participation of a traditionally under-represented demographic - LGBTQ+ people - whether they be drivers, engineers, mechanics, other team members, journalists, marketers, photographers, videographers, fans, or anyone involved in the sport.
Diagonal Communications brings to the partnership a formidable track record in strategic comms, PR, media relations, and reputation management at the highest levels of Formula 1 and international motorsport. Led by the experienced and well-connected Matt Bishop, Diagonal Communications has supported, and continues to support, teams, championships, sponsors, and individuals through periods of transformation, innovation, and global scrutiny, earning a reputation for clarity, creativity, innovation, and credibility.
The partnership will allow Racing Pride and Diagonal Communications to work closely together to amplify Racing Pride’s voice, extend its reach, and build on its many successes to date - ensuring that the organisation is even better equipped to promote and champion LGBTQ+ people throughout motorsport.
Matthew-Harriet Randall (Chief Executive Officer, Racing Pride) said:
“Racing Pride has always been driven by the belief that motorsport is at its best when everyone can be their authentic selves. Partnering with Diagonal Communications is an exciting step forward for us. Their depth of experience, understanding of the sport, and values-led approach make them a perfect fit as we look to grow our impact and influence. I’m hugely excited about what we can achieve together.”
Randall, who also works as Enterprise Architect for Aston Martin Lagonda, was warmly welcomed to the role of Racing Pride CEO last year, since they bring an important blend of technical expertise, astute leadership, long experience, and a deep personal commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within motorsport.
Matt Bishop (Founding Ambassador of Racing Pride and Managing Director of Diagonal Communications) said:
“Racing Pride has already achieved an enormous amount in a relatively short time, and I’m incredibly proud to be part of its journey. This new partnership is about building momentum - combining Racing Pride’s purpose and passion with Diagonal Communications’ experience and expertise to help drive lasting change. Motorsport has the power to influence culture far beyond the pitlanes and paddocks, and together we can ensure that our influence can be a hugely positive one.”
Bishop brings to the partnership more than 30 years of experience in senior Formula 1 and motorsport management, strategy, communications, PR, and media roles, offering invaluable insights into the sport’s global ecosystem.
Racing Pride would also like to offer its sincere thanks to racing driver Richard Morris, Matthew-Harriet Randall’s predecessor as Chief Executive Officer. Racing Pride will continue to be supported by its Board which possesses wide-ranging expertise in fields such as people and culture, finance, and corporate social responsibility. Meanwhile its Ambassadors are directly engaged in international motorsport and associated industries across a variety of disciplines, providing a wealth of authentic lived experiences.
The collaboration between Racing Pride and Diagonal Communications will also be strengthened by the involvement of Ann Bradshaw and Joe Downes, both of whom hold senior roles at Diagonal. Their deep understanding of strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and media relations will be crucial as Racing Pride continues to expand its reach and effectiveness.
This new partnership represents a confident and ambitious step forward - building on Racing Pride’s proven success while opening the door to an even more impactful future. Together, Racing Pride and Diagonal Communications are committed to accelerating progress, driving visibility, and ensuring that LGBTQ+ people are fully supported and represented across all levels of motorsport.
